Let us take a moment today to look at Galatians 6:7-9.
NIV Galatians 6:7-9
Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Every day we are sowing and reaping. There is a direct correspondence between what is sown and what is reaped. We are currently planting our benevolence garden at church. We will reap exactly the seeds we sow.
Paul warns us to be careful what we sow. If we sow to please our flesh, we will reap destruction. Every time I sow sin, I reap death. However, every time I sow to please the Holy Spirit, I reap life. My relationship with the Lord grows and I grow in the gift of eternal life. So, let’s consider what seeds you are sowing today.
Our broken nation needs to see us sowing to please the Holy Spirit. We are to love God and our neighbors. This is our calling. We shine brightest in the darkness. Don’t grow weary! Keep sowing good seeds. Speak with kind words. Act like children of our Heavenly Father. God sees every seed sown and He will bring the harvest in His Time!
Here is a picture of benevolence garden! It is amazing. We plan to give food away from here both to friends of FCC and neighbors. Betty Geer has taken the lead on this ambitious project. Please consider stopping by this week to help us get the seeds in the soil!
